Extension of health insurance and prescription drug insurance coverage for Ukrainians

December 20, 2024 – The measure introduced in 2022 to cover health care and prescription drugs for Ukrainians has been extended until March 31, 2028, by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.

You may apply for the extension of your coverage if you meet all the following conditions:

• You arrived in Canada on or before May 31, 2024
• You hold a valid Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET)
• You already have a Health Insurance Card

Your health insurance and public prescription drug insurance coverage will be extended according to the end date of your CUAET, up to March 31, 2028, at the latest. You must apply within three months before your current Health Insurance Card expires.

How to apply for the extension of your coverage

Online

You may easily apply using the online health insurance registration or reregistration form:

• Follow the procedure for a temporary resident of Québec, coming from another country and holding a work permit
• Attach your CUAET when providing supporting documents
