Register or re-register for health insurance

As soon as you arrive in Québec, you can register for the Health Insurance Plan if you meet the eligibility conditions. For example, you may apply for a Health Insurance Card if you settle in Québec, come to pursue studies or work here or extend a temporary stay. If you were registered for health insurance in the past, you have to re-register upon your return to Québec, except if you remained eligible during a temporary absence.
