November 15, 2024 – We are taking all necessary measures to continue to provide you with a quality service. Despite the return of the postal service, delays in our mail delivery are to be expected.

Exceptionally, until postal services return to normal, you may use an online form to send us your documents.

Procedure to follow depending on your situation


I need health care or medications

  • If you have a Health Insurance Card, it remains valid until the last day of its expiry month.
  • If your card has expired, you have not yet received it, or it has been broken, lost or stolen, contact us so that we can check your file. You must have the fax number of your pharmacy or health facility on hand.

I have to renew my Health Insurance Card

  • Your card remains valid until the last day of its expiry month. You will usually receive your renewal notice three months before your card expires.
  • If you have a photo on your current card, keep your renewal notice and send it to us at the end of the strike.
  • If you are between 14 and 74 years old and do not have a photo on your current card, go to a health network service points (CLSC) service point or to a SAAQ service outlet to renew your card. Check the instructions on the leaflet attached to your renewal notice.

I want to replace a lost, damaged or stolen card

I have applied for registration online and am awaiting my Health Insurance Card

  • When registering for health insurance, a waiting period pending eligibility of up to three months generally applies following registration.
  • We will send you your Health Insurance Card by mail.

My child has just been born and I have not received their Health Insurance Card

  • Make sure your child has been registered with the Directeur de l’état civil. We will send you their Health Insurance Card by mail.
  • In the meantime, if your child needs health care, you can present the Health Insurance Card of either parent until the child turns one.

I have not received my claim slip for the current month and I need to buy my prescription drugs

  • You can buy your prescription drugs as usual. Your claim slip will not be required.

My doctor made a request to RAMQ for an exceptional medication and I did not receive the authorization letter

  • Call your pharmacy or clinic to find out if your exceptional medication has been authorized.
  • You will receive your authorization letterby mail.
